The single was also planned to be released in a limited edition dayglo sleeve. Polydor's plans were for the standard sleeve to be issued in the first week of release, which fans would duly buy. The dayglo sleeve would then be released the following week prompting fans to go out and buy the single again (which we would have done!) and keep the single in a high (or higher) chart position.
The story goes that Miles found out about this underhand plan and made his feelings to Polydor known. As a result, Polydor were forced to withdraw the sleeve and any stores stocking the dayglo release had to resell the singles in plain black sleeves (hence the reason why there are so many copies of this release available without sleeves).

This single was scheduled for release before Rob 'The Bass Thing' Jones announced his departure from the group. No pressings of the record were ever made but a number of artwork proofs exist which detail the various design stages. These show that, very early on, the single was going to be titled 'Piece Of Sky' after the lead track but later changed to 'Luna Thug' which is the title the abandoned release is officially known as.
Piece Of Sky would have been the version as included on the 'HUP' album, 'Play' was recorded in December 1989 and later released on the 'Caught In My Shadow' Australian Tour Souvenir CD EP. 'Our New Song' was included on the 'Circlesquare' single released in 1990. 'Can't Shape Up, Again' is presumed to be the version included on the 'Waffle And Maple Syrup' promotional album released in early 1990.

A few thousand 7" copies were sold in the first few days of release with oversize outer sleeves, undersize inner sleeves and no bar-code due to a printing error.
An unknown quantity of a mispressed CD single also exist with slightly different colouring on the sleeve and CD label, and also with the last two tracks on the disc listed and playing in reverse order (Circlesquare, Circlesquare (Paranoia Mix), Our New Song).

This EP was originally sold at live shows during December 2001 with remaining copies available for general sale on the GIG Records' website.
Tracks 1, 2 and 3 recorded by Martin Bell at The Forum, London in December 2000. Track 4 original demo recorded in 1994. Track 5 original demo recorded by Simon Efemey at The Fridge, Stourbridge in 1987.
2000 copies were pressed, each one individually hand-numbered. Inlay card was signed by Miles Hunt, Malcolm Treece, Martin Gilks, Martin Bell and Stuart Quinell and also included a sticker promoting the website address.
The CD is housed in a plastic wallet sleeve.

10" single exclusively available from the group's official online store. Only 300 copies were pressed on blue vinyl, the first 50 copies were signed by all members of the group.
Upon taking delivery of the singles from the manufacturer, the record company found they had been incorrectly pressed on black vinyl and ordered a re-pressing thus 300 copies exist on black vinyl and 300 on blue vinyl. Blue vinyl copies did not ship until February 2017.
